Construction of theoretical models describing the micro-mechanics of defects behavior and physical mechanisms of structure formation, relaxation of residual stresses and plastic deformation in composite nanostructures and bulk nanomaterials

Theoretical description of the formation and evolution of the structure and mechanical behavior of nanocrystalline materials and composite nanostructures.

To solve the problems, different approaches are used of modern physics and mechanics of deformable materials - from analytical models of elastic behavior of defects in bounded and inhomogeneous elastic bodies to computer simulation by finite elements, the dislocation-disclination dynamics, molecular dynamics and quasi-continuum. The main emphasis is placed on the development of analytical models that have appeared as a result of years of development of Saint Petersburg State Polytechnical University in Russia SPBSPU SPBSTU (Dr. A.E Romanov, Dr. A.L. Kolesnikova) The Ioffe Institute (Dr. A.E Romanov, Dr. M.Yu. Gutkin) and the Institute of Problems of Mechanical Engineering (Dr. M.Yu. Gutkin, Dr. A.L. Kolesnikova), with the active involvement of a powerful arsenal of computational mechanics, accumulated over many years.
